For decades, kids have encountered cliques, bullies, nerds, jocks, and those deemed the "popular people," all as part of growing up. For the past 20 years, law enforcement, teachers and educational professionals have been training, teaching and speaking to these kids about the perils and consequences associated with the mistreatment of others. Anti-bullying and character based communications has long been part of this K-12 curriculum…teaching respect, honesty, loyalty, and caring as the foundation of developing trust, faith and honor. Transforming your PSAP culture and fostering trust amongst your team is not impossible. If a 5th grader has consequences for texting inappropriately, then so can your dispatcher. Causing damage at work, while saving lives, is high school antics and needs to go away now! Caring, good judgement and how you behave when you think no one is looking (or reading) reveals your true character.
